The Salvation Army began its ministry in Ukraine in 1993. We aim to meet the humanitarian and social needs of the country, as well as the spiritual needs of its parishes and local communities.

As General John Gowans said in his interview published in Salvationist in 1999, “We are here to save souls, we are here to see spiritual growth and encourage people to become like Jesus, and we are here to serve suffering humanity — particularly in the locality of our corps and centres».
