Every year on September the 21st, the world community celebrates the International Day of Peace. More than 40 years ago, it was established by the UN General Assembly. The UN General Assembly declared this day as a day of dedicated of strengthening the ideals of Peace by observing 24 hours of non-violence and ceasefire.

This year’s theme is Actions for Peace – our desire to achieve the Global Goals. This is a call to action that recognizes our personal and collective responsibility for strengthening Peace. Consolidating Peace contributes to the realization of the goals of sustainable development, and their achievement shapes the culture of peace for all.

All people on Earth are scrounging the Peace. All Ukrainians are looking for peace, strive, protect, beg and try with all their might to bring it closer. Ukraine has not had a single “Peace Day” for more than a year and a half, when there was no threat of attacks, shelling or bombing. This happened this year as well… It is impossible to count all the losses, victims and destruction that Ukraine is experiencing.

UN Secretary General António Guterres said: “Today, more than ever, we need Peace. Wars and conflicts lead to destruction, poverty and hunger, and force tens of millions of people to leave their homes…”

The Salvation Army in Ukraine continues its ministry to help the suffering people with the support of the international community and supporters of the Salvation Army around the world. The Salvation Army provides assistance with food kits, hygiene products, blankets, bed linen, household chemicals, clothes and much more.

Salvationists help people to survive the horrors of war, because every day they hear the words of people: “I want Peace, I just want Peace… and for there to be no war in the world!”.
